Following the public input received at public open forums, stakeholder consultations, and two visioning workshops, the Master Plan for the redevelopment of the riverfront on River Landing was completed.
The plan is designed to create a connection along the river, establish a focal point for riverbank activities, and integrate and provide an identity complementary to Phase I. The innovative design features various components such as the pumphouse restoration and expansion, new pathways, entry points, activity areas, and river viewing areas.

On August 21, 2009, officials from the federal, provincial, and civic governments officially opened the riverfront promenade at River Landing Phase II. The riverfront on Phase II stretches from the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge to the western edge of Victoria Park and creates a connection along the river, establishes a focal point for riverbank activities, and integrates an identity complementary to Phase I. The innovative design features various components such as a new pedestrian pathway and bridge , entry points, a boat dock, activity areas, and river viewing areas.
The A.L. Cole pumphouse has been renovated to highlight its unique industrial history and provide for future commercial opportunities. Work completed includes the removal of some equipment, repairs to the exterior brickwork, replacement of windows, provision of heat and electrical services and interior coatings. The renovation work has been undertaken to celebrate the heritage aspects and interpretive opportunities of this building and site while providing safe, usable tenant space for commercial activity on the waterfront.
